Part of your attitude on the dance floor is not just the moves you make, but it is also the clothes you wear. Selecting the right dance shirt that allows you to dance freely, will enhance your experience while out on the floor. Also, choose a shirt that matches the rest of your outfit your says something about who you are as a person.

Slogan Shirts

If you have a message you want to convey, you can wear a dance shirt that has a slogan on it. The slogan can be comedic, sassy, a quote or even a true statement. The statement can also be related to dancing. For instance, if you are in a dance class, the slogan might be "Salsa. It's not just for chips anymore." If you are taking a tango class with your significant other, you might wear a shirt that says "Team Tango." A tap dancer might like "Happy Feet." Be creative and inventive.
Costume

If you are in a dance class such as jazz, modern or tap, then you might wear a costume-style dance shirt. Costume dance shirts can be any fabric -- cotton, silk, leather, nylon. Select a costume that represents your dance or the character you are portraying. For instance, if you are doing a '40s-era dance, a shirt and tie might be appropriate. Work with the other people in your group or class to select the costume style.

Get a picture printed on your dance T-shirt. Select an image that represents either the group you are dancing with or a message you are trying to convey. The picture could be, for example, the symbol of your dance studio, a giant smiley face, cowboy boots or a cartoon couple waltzing.

If you'll be dancing in a location that is very warm, you might want a tank top or T-shirt style. Other styles are long-sleeved, turtleneck, button-down, vest and V-neck. Choose a style that will allow you to move comfortably.
