Advance Placement Biology prepares students for college biology.

AP, or Advanced Placement, Biology is a special course available to high school students interested in studying biology in college. The entry requirements for this course differ depending on your school and state. The AP Biology course covers topics like genetics, molecular biology, cells and evolution. There are a variety of free flash games available on the Internet that present the information found in AP Biology about evolution in an entertaining fashion.

  1. Journey With Darwin

    • Quiz games about evolution don't need to be boring text-only affairs. In the game Darwin's Travels, you navigate your way toward a treasure by answering questions about evolution. The questions are all multiple choices and you have to click on the point of the ship's steering wheel that matches the correct answer. In all there are three different "journeys" to undertake each with different questions about the topic of evolution and the findings of Charles Darwin.

    The Mating Game

    • The act of mating is how genes are transferred and is a natural part of evolution. The Mating Game is a free flash game that turns the topic into a humorous game show. You get to pick the questions that the contestants ask and then have to choose the appropriate match for them. If you pick correctly, they will find a suitable mate and their genes will be transferred to the next generation. Choose wrong and you can cause the extinction of your candidate. The contestants include a beetle, tree frog and bowerbird. The game is a fun way to explore this aspect of evolution.

    Natural Selection

    • AP Biology contains a lot of scientific phrases; a good way to familiarize yourself with them is through entertainment. Battleship takes the traditional game but adds a twist by requiring you to answer questions related to the concept of evolution in order to score a hit. Rags to Riches mimics the popular television show "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?" to make the topic of natural selection more engaging.

    Life

    • In Darwin's Evolution Game, you have to try and preserve life by making the right evolutionary choices. You pick from a range of available life forms that then have to endure various environmental changes in order to survive. The goal of the game is for your creatures to survive a million years; it teaches how diversity can help protect a species against change.
