If you received a minor traffic ticket in Arizona, you are eligible to attend traffic violation school to have a charge dismissed and to avoid appearing in court. Those who are eligible for the defensive driving program, or DDP, have typically attended the program once within a two year period since their last violation. Several locations offer the DDP program, but the school must be certified by the court issuing your ticket. To find out what is an acceptable school, look up the Supreme Court of Arizona's list of certified schools (see "Resources").

  1. Central Phoenix Traffic School

    • The Central Phoenix Traffic School is a certified provider for the Defensive Driver Program as appointed by the Supreme Court of the state of Arizona. To attend its driving program, applicants must pay a fee of $30 plus the fees paid to the court to dismiss the ticket in question. Attendees must take the program a minimum of seven days before the scheduled court hearing. When beginning the class, applicants must bring their traffic violation ticket and their government-issued identification.

    Arizona Traffic Schools

    • Arizona Traffic Schools offers classes throughout the state of Arizona and has four classroom locations in Phoenix. The four-hour course offered at these locations can usually be completed in one morning, afternoon or evening. Students attending the defensive driving class must bring their citation and paperwork showing their court date as well as their government-issued identification. Checks can be made payable to the Arizona Traffic Schools upon beginning the class.

    Arizona Defensive Driving School

    • The Arizona Defensive Driving School is another certified provider of the defensive driving program, certified by the Arizona supreme court. The school has two Phoenix locations where violators can take the required classes for their traffic violations. To attend the class, attendees must bring a copy of their ticket and any documents provided to them by the court. They must also bring their government-issued identification along with a check to cover the appropriate class and court fees.

    EZAZ Driving School

    • The EZAZ Driving school is another government-certified teaching location that offers the defensive driving program. EZAZ has online and classroom courses available for those in the Phoenix area. Both courses last four hours, with a varying cost depending on the court you are required to attend. The online course is a more cost efficient choice --- it is $33 including all applicable court fees. The online course can be completed within three days of your court date instead of the usual seven days.
