Formal Poses
-
Formal poses most often include the bride, groom, wedding party and family. The formal poses that are specific to the wedding party are often symmetrical and very traditional. These are posed so that the bride and groom are the central focus and the wedding party stands on either side of the bride or groom. Sometimes the wedding party is posed based on their role in the wedding or sometimes it is done by height. Either way, they focus on the wedding party.
Outdoor Poses
-
Outdoor poses are a popular choice when the weather isn't too cloudy or raining. Outdoor poses are possible even in the winter, but need to be done quickly so the wedding party doesn't get too cold. Outdoor poses can be set up in the formal style of bride and groom in the middle, with wedding party on either side. This pose is used most frequently, but can be individualized based on the location. Some examples are using available steps to spread out on, or sitting on a grassy hill. If there is landscaping around, it would be interesting to have the party spread out amongst flowers or trees or even a live action photo of everyone running in the grass or jumping off a short wall.

Silly Poses
-
Silly poses are not for everyone. If the bride is very traditional, these may not be appropriate. Some popular silly poses include the wedding party wearing sunglasses for an outdoor pose. The wedding party could also hold silly dance poses like dipping their partner or even piggy back. If the bridesmaid's dresses aren't too constricting, the wedding party could even build a pyramid like cheerleaders do. Funny, homemade hats are another way to incorporate silly into wedding party photos.
Theme Poses
-
If the bride and groom are into a certain hobby or television show, there are theme poses that could be fun. James Bond or Charlie's Angels poses are always a hit. These feature the wedding party posing with pretend guns in sexy ways. For Star Trek lovers, the wedding party could hold up the traditional "Live long and prosper" hand signal. Theatrical wedding party poses could include top hats and canes for the grooms men and feather boas for the bridesmaids.
