Christian Boys Boarding Schools

There are many types of Christian Boys Boarding Schools.

Each year, thousands of young people across the United States decide to acquire their education in a private boarding school setting. The reasons for this vary, but include educational or familial decisions, behavior problems, or traditional influences. Christian Boys Boarding Schools are typically privately owned facilities that strive to help boys gain confidence and become the best they can be.

  1. Christ School

    • Located in Arden, North Carolina, Christ School is a 500-acre Episcopal Boarding School for Boys. The academic program is based on college preparatory courses, including 32 honors courses and 16 Advanced Placement courses. Christ School offers a full complement of academic, spiritual, athletic, and residential facilities. Students here enjoy seven miles of trails, extracurricular activities, streams, wooded areas, a lake, and an outdoor chapel.

With an average enrollment of under 300 male students from grades 8-12, there is ample opportunity for students to participate in athletic programs such as basketball, baseball, track, cross country, football, lacrosse, soccer, golf, swimming, tennis, and wrestling. There are also several other types of extracurricular activities, including an outdoor program, music, theater, debate, choir, yearbook, and chess club to name a few.

Even though the school is Episcopal based, the student body consists of many different Christian faiths, and many religious backgrounds. The Christ School community meets together regularly to worship.

    St. Catherine's Academy

    • This Catholic Boys Boarding School provides a safe, Catholic, formative educational environment, with a military tradition in kindergarten through eighth grade. Programs are offered by both resident and day, and the academy is located in Anaheim, California.

St. Catherine's Academy provides structure and instills character, a competitive spirit, personal responsibility, organizational skills, the ability to determine priorities, and pride in work and accomplishments. This school places a strong emphasis upon spiritual growth and character development, as well as academic excellence. The daily enforcement of St. Catherine's Honor Code helps to ensure that only the highest moral and ethical standards of behavior are kept.

Cadets of Saint Catherine's Academy are young men who are faith-filled and moral, committed to learning, have a strong academic foundation, and are responsible citizens.

Blue Ridge School: All Boys, College Preparatory Boarding School

    • Blue Ridge School is an all-boys, college-preparatory boarding school. This private school is designed for male students in grades nine through twelve. Class sizes are small (student per teacher ratio is 40) and in a structured environment with a strong sense of community. Blue Ridge School acknowledges that boys learn differently from girls, so the school uses a learning model that has been specifically designed for boys. Boys at Blue Ridge enjoy numerous social activities: athletics, arts, clubs, and community service. There are also various co-curricular programs offered to build young men's self-esteem and further develop their leadership skills and teamwork skills.

Blue Ridge School's campus is comprised of nearly 800 acres, near Charlottesville, Virginia, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

    Subiaco Academy

    • Subiaco Academy was established in 1887 to help educate young men in becoming creative thinkers and problem solvers. Located in Subiaco, Arkansas, the academy offers students in grades 7 through 12 a safe, structured environment that is infused with Catholic Benedictine traditions. When staying in residence, weekends at Subiaco Academy are the student's time to study, hang out with friends, relax, or participate in optional extracurricular activities that are coordinated by the Academy's Activities Director. There is transportation available to local shopping malls and discount stores, and to other recreational activities, including trips to the lake and to movie theaters. Camping excursions, kayaking, canoeing, and hiking trips are sometimes offered on weekends, and students are encouraged to participate.

The School at Church Farm (CFS)

    • The School at Church Farm (CFS) academic program includes community service, athletics, residential life, and a plethora of other activities that help shape a young Christian man. This school has a ratio of 80 percent boarding students to 20 percent day. Day students are offered a room in a cabin during the day and then day students go home at night to sleep. There are ten small cottage dormitories available for student residence, which hold a maximum of 18 students plus two supervising staff members. This, according to CFS, helps to encourage young men's intellectual, emotional and social growth by providing a positive atmosphere.

CFS is located in Exton, Pennsylvania, and stands by the philosophy that athletics are a crucial part of each student's education through teaching sportsmanship skills, healthy competition, good conduct, and adherence to rules. As a result, participation in athletics is required each season for all students, either by interscholastic or intramural.

There are several weekend activities and field trips offered to students at CFS, as well as a recently renovated dining center and birthday cakes provided to students every month for birthday celebrations.

Weekly Episcopal services are provided to students who have various faiths and come from different religious backgrounds.
