Kids can celebrate Christmas with Santa-themed activities.

Christmas break is the perfect time for kids to get involved in some holiday activities. Most small kids are very excited about Santa Claus coming to leave them presents, so get them ready for Christmas by helping them complete activities and crafts that focus on the man in the red suit. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Santa Claus Hat

    • Kids can make a Santa hat out of a large piece of red construction paper. Lay the paper flat on your work surface, and draw a large half circle on the paper. The half circle will take up most of the paper. Cut the half circle out, and fold it cone style to create a hat. Use staples or tape to secure the hat into the shape you want. Use construction paper to create Santa himself. For instance, you might tape or glue a pink circle onto the hat to make Santa's face. Draw features on the face with markers. Glue cotton balls on the top of the hat and around Santa's face to complete the craft.

    Santa Greeting Card

    • Fold a piece of green construction paper or card stock to make a Christmas card with Santa on the front. Glue a circle of peach felt to the card to create a Santa face. Cut a beard out of white felt, and a hat out of red felt. Glue the hat and beard to the face where they belong. Small pink circles will make rosy cheeks for Santa. Draw his eyes with a black marker. Glue a small pom pom on the end of the hat. Use the marker to write a Christmas greeting on the front of your card.

    Santa Magnet

    • Use craft foam to make a cute Christmas magnet. Glue a half-circle of peach foam to a red triangle shape, to make Santa's face and hat. Use white foam or small white pom poms to make the fur on the top and bottom of Santa's hat. Create his face using construction paper or glued-on googly eyes. To make the beard, use white curling ribbon. Curl several strips and glue them around Santa's ears and on his chin. Glue a magnet to the back of Santa so he can be hung on the refrigerator.

    Santa Puppet

    • Transform a brown paper lunch sack into a Santa hand puppet with just a few items. The bag's bottom will be Santa's head, and your hand will go into the open part of the sack, which will be Santa's body. Glue a hat made out of red construction paper to the flap, and cut out a red coat for Santa, as well. Tape or glue these into place. Draw eyes right above the flap. Decorate the rest of the puppet as you like using crayons, markers, and glitter or sequins.
