Groom's Wedding Duties
Gone are the days when the groom showed up at the altar but otherwise left the wedding planning to his bride and her family--grooms are now involved in much of the wedding planning. A groom that actively participates in the planning of his wedding and carrying out his assigned duties will make for a happy bride.

Pre-Wedding Day Duties
-
Traditionally the bride's family pays for the wedding. If the bride's family is unable to pay for the entire wedding, it is up to the groom or the groom's family to pick up the extra expenses. The groom's family traditionally pays for the rehearsal dinner.
The bride and groom write out a guest list together once a budget is determined. It is important for a groom to suggest wedding guests because his bride may not be familiar with extended family members and far away friends he wants to have at the wedding.
Other pre-wedding duties the groom must perform include obtaining a marriage license, purchasing the wedding bands, setting up appointments with vendors and arranging bar service and beverages for the reception.
Best Man and Groomsmen
-
The groom is responsible for choosing his best man and groomsmen. Before offering the job to his friends and family the groom has to decide with his bride the size of the wedding party so that he invites the right number of wedding party members.
The groom needs to organize the best man and groomsmens' wedding attire Whether they are purchasing suits or tuxedos for each man or renting the attire, the groom must make sure his side of the wedding party is fitted in advance and picks up their attire on time and with all of the proper accessories. Whether or not the groom pays for the attire is his decision; however, he should be sure to take into consideration the financial situation of his groomsmen.

Wedding Day Duties
-
On the day of the wedding the groom must ensure that he gets himself and all of his groomsmen to the wedding venue on time. The groom should be available to pay vendors including florists, the officiant, photographers and caterers. The groom must also ensure that the wedding license is at the wedding venue for the officiant and wedding party to sign after the marriage ceremony.
Honeymoon
-
Research any location you want to go for your honeymoon before booking accommodations. Traditionally the groom plans the honeymoon after meeting with his bride to discuss her wishes for the honeymoon as well as logistical considerations such as the length of the honeymoon and how much money should be spent. Honeymoon planning for the groom will then involve flight reservations, accommodations, ground transportation, obtaining passports if needed and researching things to do and see at their honeymoon destination.
