Asian Wedding Games

Asian Wedding Games thumbnail
Red is the traditional color for a wedding dress in China.

Introducing wedding guests to your Asian culture can be done in a enjoyable and entertaining fashion via the wedding games played at the bridal shower. Construct the games around elements of Asian culture and guests will leave the wedding shower with prizes as well as a new understanding of Asian traditions.

  1. Find the Dragon

    • Since dragons can represent good luck in some Asian cultures, incorporate dragons into a wedding game to help bring your guests good luck. Tape a toy dragon to the bottom of one guest's chair at each table. At a certain point during the shower, instruct the guests to check under their chairs to see if the dragon has graced them. Give those guests who chose the seats with dragons beneath them a prize.

    Tissue Paper Bride

    • Since the traditional color for a wedding dress for some Asian cultures is red, ask the guests to construct a red wedding dress. Designate each table at the shower as a team in the game and invite the players to nominate one person from their team as the bride. Supply each table with a stack of red tissue paper and clear plastic tape, and instruct them to create a wedding dress for their "bride" in five minutes. At the end of the allotted time frame, present each bride to the group. The bride and the maid of honor can choose the best dress; the designing team will win the prize.

    Chopsticks

    • Arm all of the guests with two chopsticks and invite them to stand in a line at the front of the room. For a large group, the game can be played one table at a time. Tell the guests that they must balance one chopstick on top of the other for as long as they can. The second chopstick will form an "X" or "T" shape across the first. The last person standing who has her two chopsticks balanced will win a prize.

    Symbols

    • Pass out worksheets to each guest that display a variety of Chinese symbols relating to love and marriage along with the translations of the symbols. Words and symbols could include "love," "unity," "harmony" and "romance." The guests must match as many of the symbols to the correct words as they can in 60 seconds. Collect the papers and give a prize to the guest who correctly matched the most symbols.
