Weekend family fun can be some of the most memorable moments of life.

Spending some time with family on a Saturday is a way to bond and catch up. You can have some clean old fun, introduce your kids to sports or help them in their school projects by visiting academic-related places. Engaging in such activities doesn't always mean spending loads of cash. The best Saturday activities are the ones that allow each family member a chance to interact with the others so that relationships can flourish.

  1. Museums and Zoos

    • If your children are into dinosaurs, relics or history, bring them to a museum. What state you live in and how close you are to a major city will dictate the number of museums available in your area. Some museums have specials shows and events, making a visit even more interesting.

If your kids are into animals and wildlife, visiting a local zoo can also be a pleasant way to spend a Saturday. Most zoos have tour guides, brochures and tons of souvenirs.

    Sports

    • Engage in a sporting event. For starters, a game of bowling or billiards can be a lot of fun since everyone can participate. Divide your family into two teams and create a tournament, giving a reward to the winners. If you are intending to make a habit out of it, try sports like tennis or badminton, which take some time to learn but also serve as good family activities.

    Parks and Amusement Parks

    • Spend a Saturday at a campground. This will take your family out of your usual environment and allow you to lounge and surround yourself with nature. Most campgrounds are also packed with activities and trails to give campers plenty to do.

If you are looking for more of an adrenaline rush, visit an amusement park. They are filled with rides and interactive games, so there tends to be something of interest to each member of the family.

    Movies

    • Mellow out on a Saturday afternoon by going to a movie theater. Theaters are fairly cheap, require almost no work and provide fun and entertainment. On top of this, there are a lot of family-oriented movies released almost every week.
