Preschool kids are often willing to try new and fun activities. Preschoolers are active and yearn to engage in activities that will help them hit physical, emotional, social and language milestones. Finding fun activities at home, daycare, field trips or in other environments can not only be entertaining for preschool kids, but can help them reach their age-appropriate milestones as well.

  1. Coloring

    • Coloring is a fun activity for a preschool kid to do to pass the time and improve her small motor skills. Search online for free, printable coloring sheets in themes or subjects that interest her. Use a coloring book or encourage her to make her own creation on a white sheet of paper. Use different mediums such as water colors, markers or colored pencils for a change from the traditional crayon.

    Educational

    • As preschool kids gear up to begin kindergarten, educational activities to get them ready can also be fun. Play the alphabet game by looking around the house or school for things that begin with different letters of the alphabet. Learn about the seasons exploring outside with activities such as collecting leaves in the fall and planting seeds in the spring. Use planted seeds for ongoing activities throughout the summer for the preschool kid to water and record its growth.

    Arts and Crafts

    • Arts and crafts are fun activities which provide an opportunity for a preschool kid to use his creativity. Local and online retailers sell craft kits geared toward preschool kids. Use items around the house to create a homemade craft. For arts and craft ideas, check out a kid's craft book from the library or search online for crafts with a certain theme, such as sports or holidays. Consider having the preschool kid give the finished art piece or craft as a gift to someone else.

    Outdoor Games

    • Outdoor games are not only a way for preschool kids to get exercise and wear off some excess energy, but to engage in a fun, team-building activity. Traditional games such as ''duck duck gray duck'' and tag are always favorites that don't require equipment. A game of soccer or kickball can be a fun way to teach preschool kids about sports while working on their large motor skills. Take an outdoor nature walk and make it into a game by seeing how many birds and bugs the preschool kid can find and identify.
