Places to Have a Wedding in Madison County, Georgia
Madison County is located in northwest Georgia with a small town atmosphere throughout the county. Madison county neighbors the heavier populated Athens-Clark County, where multiple Inns and venues are located. Because so many venues are grouped in Athens-Clark County, there are not many wedding options in Madison County. The few that are in Madison, however, are full of natural beauty in outdoor settings.

Tucker Plantation
-
Tucker Plantation is a historic landmark in North Georgia. It was started as a cattle, cotton and corn farm in 1860, and was then the largest farm South of the Mississippi River. Today, the owners have preserved much of the historic features of the farm and updated it to offer events among the multiple lakes, pastures and 200-year-old oak trees. An indoor ceremony or reception area is available at the Tucker barn, which has been renovated with pine floors, exposed beam dome ceilings and wrought iron chandeliers to match the rustic beauty of the property. The barn is large enough to accommodate 400 guests and overlooks the county side. Tucker Plantation offers wedding packages based on your needs and has a list of preferred vendors, if needed.
Watson Mill State Park, Watson Bridge
-
Watson Mill State Park is known as one of the most picturesque parks in the state of Georgia. The Watson Mill bridge is the longest covered bridge in Georgia, reaching 229 feet across the South Fork River. The covered bridge and the group shelter both hold about 100 people and make scenic ceremony and reception spots. The group shelter is fully enclosed and has an outdoor BBQ pit, kitchen facilities, tables and chairs, bathroom, heat and air and a private parking area. The park does not offer wedding packages, but condones the use of their facilities for weddings with your own planning. With over 1,118 acres of hiking, biking and horseback riding, there are many amenities to occupy your wedding guests for group events before and after the wedding. There are also three log cabin bunkhouses that fit eight people each, if your guests plan to stay on sight.

Camp Kiwanis
-
Camp Kiwanis is located on the scenic Broad River and Bartram Trail, which both offer beautiful natural backdrops to a wedding. The campsite is run by the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta -- with multiple locations available for outdoor weddings -- and they offer the camp to couples and families from September through May because of the area's natural beauty. Some of the areas available for smal outdoor weddings are Bluestone Creek, Devil's Pulpit and the ruins of Wildcat Bridge, which provides scenic vistas of the river. There is also an indoor hall, called Franklin Hall, which holds 300 people for receptions or indoor weddings. There are two guest cabins and two camping villages available to reserve to have your wedding party stay on-site if you like.
Churches
-
There are 61 churches in Madison County of various denominations and sizes to fit almost any wedding need. If you're looking to have your wedding in a place with historical value, New Hope Baptist Church is the third oldest church in the state. Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church is one of the few churches in the area that has a female pastor. Mount Hermon is also a place of historical value in the county, established in 1883. Of the 61 churches, two are chapels, Gordon's and Wesley's Chapel, used for small congregations and gatherings. If you are planning a smaller wedding, these are a good options, although they do not have facilities for a reception after the ceremony.
