Unique Bridal Shower Cakes Ideas
Throwing a shower for the bride-to-be allows families and friends to share in the excitement and anticipation of the bride's impending nuptials. The host of the shower can present the bride-to-be with a creative and personalized cake, customized to recognize the upcoming wedding, a characteristic of the bride or the theme of the shower.

Corset Cake
-
For a lingerie bridal shower, present the bride-to-be with a corset cake. Cut the shape of the corset from a large rectangular cake, and place cupcakes on top to make the bustier. Ice the entire cake in racy red buttercream icing and use a pastry bag with a round icing tip to make the boning in black icing through the length of the cake. Make frills and ruffles with a star-shaped icing tip along the top of the corset and add a fondant ribbon at each side of the cake.
Fashion Cakes
-
For a bride-to-be who loves to shop, make a set of fashion cakes for the bridal shower. Make a 3D purse, chunky sandals and a dress. For the purse, cut the bottoms off two 6-inch round cakes, spread a layer of icing on one cake and place the other cake on top. Stand the cakes on the flat bottom and cover them with fondant. Insert real handbag handles into the top or make them from fondant. For sandals, cut two sandal shapes from a rectangular cake, cover the sandals with fondant and make straps from a different colored fondant. For the dress cake, bake a cake mix in a round oven-safe bowl, turn it upside down when cool and cover it with buttercream icing. Make the shapes of the top of the dress from fondant, allow the shapes to dry and place them on top of the cake.

Gift Box Cake
-
A multi-tier gift box cake can make a beautiful centerpiece at a bridal shower. Cover a two-layer round or square cake with a sheet of fondant to make the wrapping paper and be sure to smooth the sides and edges. Cut a piece of fondant large enough to cover the top of the cake and 1 inch of the sides of the cake. Smooth the fondant over the top of the cake to make a gift box lid. Decorate the sides of the cake with fondant ribbons and make one or two smaller cakes to stack on top. To decorate the top cake, make a fondant bow with streamers. Add silk or edible flowers to the edges of the cakes.
Ring Bearer's Pillow Cake
-
Make a 3D ring bearer's pillow cake for a bridal shower. Prepare two 9-inch cakes and use a serrated knife to round off the corners on the top of each cake. Roll out a sheet of fondant to make a square approximately 50 percent larger than one of the cakes. Use your fingers to make crinkles throughout the fondant square to shape it like a blanket. Lay the fondant blanket on a cake tray and turn one of the cakes upside down on the blanket. Roll out a sheet of fondant in another color and cut a long rectangular piece to wrap around the sides of the upside down cake. Spread a layer of buttercream icing on the upturned face of the cake and place the other cake on top. Cut a square from the rolled out fondant large enough to cover the top and sides of the top cake, and smooth it onto the cake. Use a pastry bag and large round icing tip to draw piping around the center of the pillow. Tie a bow around two fashion jewelry rings and place them on the center of the cake.
