Funding for School Projects
As an educator, providing students with a high quality education not only benefits your students, but the community as a whole. Lack of school funding can inhibit students from achieving their academic goals and your ability to be a productive teacher in the classroom. You can improve the situation of your students by applying for funding that develops specific school projects with the sole purpose of helping your pupils succeed.

Safe Schools -- Healthy Students Initative
-
Promoting healthy lifestyles not only benefits your school community, but the overall community. The Safe Schools -- Healthy Students Initiative allows schools and community groups to work together to promote drug-free and safe school environments. The grant program allows schools and community groups to develop strategies and programs that address drug and violence prevention, mental health services, childhood development and student behavior. Depending on the community's particular situation, other strategies can be developed with the aim of assisting students.
Improving Literacy Through School Libraries
-
Encouraging students to read books can be challenging in an age of video games, text messaging and social networking. You can improve your students' literacy skills by applying for a grant under the Improving Literacy Through School Libraries program. This grant program allows schools to upgrade their library resources by purchasing new books, offer students access to the library outside of school hours and the school calendar, and providing teachers and school administration with professional development.

Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation
-
If your school and community have a specific educational project that would benefit students academically, you may be able to access money through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Foundation funds creative joint programs between education institutions, communities or tribal councils that help to support students to obtain academic goals and achievements.
Mentoring Grants
-
Students experiencing academic difficulties or living in areas with gang activity are vulnerable to dropping out of school. Mentoring can help students stay in school and work towards creating academic successes for themselves. The Mentoring Grants programs provide support to existing school mentoring programs in assisting students to stay in school, improve relationships between their peers and teachers, decrease dropout rates, and help them avoid participating in criminal activity.
