Cute Sibling Costume Ideas
From inanimate objects commonly paired together to famous movie partners, there are endless ideas for costumes that siblings can wear. Depending on your budget and time frame, you can opt to make your children's costumes or dash them together with household objects and a trip to the thrift store or makeup counter.

Film

One very popular option is to choose costumes based on famous characters from films. Laurel and Hardy is one such pairing. Bowler hats, black jackets and a little face paint for mustaches and thick eyebrows are the basics of this costume. One of the two siblings will need to stuff a pillow under his jacket to represent the chubby Hardy. Another idea from the movies is Batman and Robin. You can buy fairly cheap prepackaged costumes from a discount store or online, or make homemade versions yourself.
History and Society
-
History and our modern world provide a bevy of costume ideas that are suited to siblings. From the current day, going as a cop and a criminal is really easy. Have the cop child lead the criminal child around in fake handcuffs to complete the costume. For an older world approach, try going as a pair of cave people. A potato sack or secondhand rug can be converted into the costume. Just add an exaggerated beard and a club made from duct-taped newspaper or a thick tree branch.

Animals
-
Turning to nature provides a wealth of ideas. Dress the siblings as the same animal to create a mini "herd" of elephants or lions. Another option is to have them dress as predator and prey, such as a lion and a zebra. A third way is to outfit one sibling as an animal and the other as the animal's prop -- for example, a monkey and a banana or a bee and a flower. Prepackaged costumes for most of the animal kingdom are readily available, but if you like to sew, you can create your own.
Household Goods
-
From food to furniture, everyday home items can be converted into costumes. From the culinary world, there are salt and pepper, ketchup and mustard, fork and knife. For a more original twist, try something like green eggs and ham, as in Dr. Seuss' famous story. Other pairings around the house to inspire you are hammer and nail, television and remote, shampoo and conditioner.
