Paper Piecing Ideas for a Wedding
Paper piecing is a simple craft which consists of cutting out paper shapes and sticking them onto each other or another piece of paper to create a new image. These can be used to decorate invites, wedding menus or place settings, or just scattered along the wedding table for decoration. They also make evocative mementos for guests. Internet paper-piecing sites can provide patterns for those who are not confident that they can draw their own designs.

Wedding Cake
-
Cut out shapes to create a three-tiered wedding cake. Use white or cream embossed wall paper for each tier to represent a patterned frosting effect and stick onto background card with a small space between each layer. Cut out small squares of silver foil to represent the stands and place two inside the gaps between each layer. Cut out tiny pictures of a bride and groom from wedding magazines and stick on top. Decorate the tiers' sides with tiny white pear beads.
Wedding Bells
-
Draw or trace two bell shapes -- one onto gold paper and one onto silver. Trace the outline onto a sheet of craft foam. Cut out the four shapes and glue the paper on top of the foam to create a raised effect. Glue the bells together so their tops are slightly overlapped (so they sit in an upside down V shape). Tie a real ribbon bow, or cut one from paper and stick where the bells meet at the top.

Wedding Rings
-
Stick gold paper to a foam backing and draw, then cut out, two interlocking circles. Create a paper diamond to stick on one ring by cutting a small diamond shape from silver foil and glue a diamond of the same size cut from translucent, plastic rainbow paper on top. Stick to the top of one ring. Cut out a red heart shape from stiff card and glue the rings in the center of it.
Wedding Doves
-
Cut out two dove shapes in profile, so you are viewing the doves from the side as they face each other, from light gray card. Cut two teardrop wing shapes from white translucent paper and stick one on each dove, point down. Cut two smaller wing shapes from dark gray velveteen wallpaper and stick inside the white paper wings. Punch two holes from shiny black paper to glue on as eyes. Cut a small red heart just wider that the two doves' heads and glue the doves on top of it so their beaks meet.
