Engagement Photography Ideas
Engagement photos serve the purpose of telling family, friends and the public that you are engaged and have an upcoming wedding you'd like to announce. In the past, engagement photos have been fairly standard portraits with little imagination added. However, these days photographers are getting more creative and coming up with inventive, fun ways to announce your engagement through photos.

Hobbies
-
Showcase a hobby that you and your fiance share. This can even include some exciting action shots. Biking together makes for cute photos. Skiing, dancing, boating or even playing board games together can provide interesting photo opportunities of the two of you together, enjoying each other's company as you normally would. Shots that aren't posed are becoming more popular, so let the photographer just shoot you and your future spouse in your element and see what comes out of it.
City or Country
-
If you live in the city, take the photographer to the streets with you and your fiance. Interesting locations like street corners, parks, subways or taxis, or even photos taken next to cars on a busy street can look really cool and fresh. For country photos, pretty meadows or fields with flowers, areas with lots of trees, and barns make neat backdrops for photos.

Different Poses
-
Creative poses offer a chance to take an engagement photo that is different from the norm. Photos that show the two of you from the legs down, walking away from the photographer, or just your hands holding each other's make a sweet statement. Or, arrange yourselves in an interesting way. Arrange poses to look casual, romantic and candid.
Color
-
Adding effects to photos can create interesting and appealing engagement photos. Using photo editing tools to tone down the colors and make the photo sepia toned, black and white, or fuzzy around the edges for a romantic look. Make the picture black and white, but use photo editing software to highlight only the engagement ring. Or photograph the couple in front of a sunset and liven up the sunset by making the colors extremely bright while leaving the rest of the photo as is.
