Dress Up Party

A 2 year old has not yet developed all the proper social skills he needs for life. Therefore its important to plan games and activities that do not require the children to work together. A dress up party is something toddlers will love because they are learning to put on and take off their clothing. The size of the clothes will not matter since children enjoy putting on large clothes also. Have a supply of hats of different types, for a fireman, Indian chief, policeman and others. An idea for thank you cards is to take a picture of each child at the party and create thank you cards that have the picture of the child who brought the present, and send it to the parents.
Finger Paint

Painting is a messy activity so make sure the children wear smocks! A 2 year old loves to get his hands dirty with paint. Finger painting is a fun activity, where the child will dunk his hands in paint and make a hand print on paper. Take caution to provide smocks so that no child will ruin his clothing. This activity will also need a few chaperons, making sure that no paint fights take place.

Children love music and learn to dance at a young age. Many children enjoy dancing to songs from Barney or Mother Goose. Freeze dance is a dancing game where music is played and the children dance, when the music is stopped randomly the children will need to freeze; those who don't freeze are out of the game. Making shapes with play dough is an age-appropriate and enjoyable activity for 2 year olds. Little children love to use their hands to create things. Play-dough is an activity that will allow the 2 year old to mold and create whatever he can imagine. Provide different shapes that the children can use to make shapes and pictures with the play-dough and allow each child to bring his creations home.
