Work from home jobs include data entry, direct sales and telemarketing.

While being a stay-at-home mom is a commendable full-time job, it doesn't pay the bills. To earn extra money --- to pay bills, place in a college fund or save for a vacation --- stay-at-home moms sometimes look for jobs that allows them to work from home so they can be with their kids and make some money.

  1. Freelance Writer

    • If you have a way with words and sound grammar and spelling skills, you can become a freelance writer. Freelance writing offers mothers the ability to work out of their homes while their kids play, or after they've gone to bed. If a medical emergency arises or you're going on a family vacation, you can refrain from accepting assignments until you have the time to do the work. As a freelance writer, you can work for a local newspaper, magazine, blogs or online publications.

    Daycare Provider

    • Not all parents can be, or want to be, stay-at-home parents. This means that they need child care services. Since you already like kids and know how to entertain and discipline them, you can open a daycare in your home. You can set your own hours, wages and number of kids you're willing to watch at once. Not only will you earn money while staying home with your own kids, but you'll also give your kids friends to play with. If a daycare seems too overwhelming, take the occasional babysitting job when parents want to go out for the night or a daycare refuses to take a child with a cold.

    Online Selling

    • If you make beaded jewelry, paint pictures, sew clothes or make other crafts, you can turn you hobby into a money-making enterprise by selling your good on the Internet. Websites such as ebay.com, amazon.com, esty.com and craigslist.com allow you to sell merchandise from you home. If you don't have a creative hobby, you may have unused items you want to sell such as old toys, books, clothes, sport equipment, or collectibles.

    Seamstress

    • If you own a sewing machine and like to sew, you can become a seamstress. Many people either don't know how to sew or don't have time to do their own sewing. As a seamstress you can tailor clothes, mend cloths or make costumes for school plays or Halloween. You can advertise in the newspaper or your child's school to find work, or let word of mouth spread among your community. Take on as much or as little sewing as you want, set your hours and your own wages.
