Dating Tips & Tricks

Dating can be difficult even if you are not a novice. You might not know who to date, where to go or how to act. This can make your date a disaster. The good news is that you can transform your dating life from a disaster into a success with the right tips and tricks.

  1. Small Talk

    • Write down subjects you can talk about on an index card and keep the cards in your pocket or your purse. If the conversation starts to die down, you can excuse yourself to the bathroom and take a peak at the cards to remind you of subjects to talk about. Appropriate subjects include talking about where you and your date grew up, the one thing you want to do in your lifetime and special talents that either of you share.

    Appropriate Venues

    • Choose a date venue that will allow you and your date to talk and have fun at the same time. While movies or plays are enjoyable, they do not allow you a chance to get to know each other. Instead choose a venue such as miniature golf, bowling or dinner at a nice restaurant.

    Keeping It Light

    • When talking to your date, keep the conversation light. Do not talk about controversial topics such as religious or political views. Those conversations are best left to when you two have gotten to know each other better and are in a casual setting and not on a date. Talking about a controversial subject before you get to know the other person could potentially ruin the date and keep you from having a good time together.

    Manners Matter

    • No matter how your date is going you should always practice good manners. This includes being not only nice to your date, but to the wait staff as well. Your date will take note how you treat others, and this could make or break the date.

    Go With The Flow

    • Remember to just go with the flow on your date. Despite your best efforts, not all dates will go well and you may find yourself not wanting to date the other person again. You don't need to cause a scene or abandon the date. Just try to enjoy the venue and learn something from the experience. Who knows, a person you will date in the future could be present and observing how you act.
