Goth Wedding Gifts

A goth bride may want her gifts to reflect her lifestyle.

Goth-themed weddings buck many traditions surrounding the wedding ceremony as brides and grooms choose elements that highlight their individual, and often dark, personalities. Brides, for example, may trade white gowns for black, while grooms may elect to carry a top hat and cane. The goth theme can be extended to the wedding by choosing conventional gifts with a gothic flair. Look for functional gifts that a new married couple can use in the home, but search for items with designs that reflect the gothic lifestyle.

  1. Cutlery

    • Silverware with goth-themed artistic embellishments can be used every day in the new couple's home. England-based Alchemy Gothic Studios creates 12- and 16-piece cutlery sets based on designs by gothic artists. The silverware is made from lead-free pewter, with some pieces incorporating Austrian crystals and brass in the design.

    China

    • China, a popular gift at weddings regardless of the theme, can be personalized to match a goth lifestyle. Artists specializing in china and porcelain can be found locally through telephone listings, or look online to find a wider selection. Find out what kind of art and design the couple likes and have examples of the work ready to provide as inspiration for the artist. An example of goth-themed china could be a black motif with red and white accents.

    Light Fixtures

    • Light fixtures are a functional gift, but they can add a romantic and functional touch to a newly wedded couple's home. Hurricane lamps and candle holders can help a home achieve a gothic ambiance, or a large light fixture made from wrought iron can become a centerpiece in a goth-themed home.

    Coffin Furniture

    • Goths with morbid tastes or a good sense of humor may enjoy furniture that's made to look like -- or made from -- old caskets. Caskets can be made into coffee tables, shelving units, or even a couch. Some companies that specialize in casket furniture will even help you turn the unit back into a coffin for the day that it's needed. If you're handy with tools, you can also purchase kits to turn a casket into a piece of furniture.
