Haunted Schools in Utah

Many schools in Utah report ghost sightings.

Utah is a scenic state located in the southwest region of the United States. The region has a rich history and with such a historical background comes incidences of paranormal activities. There are several schools that report haunted occurrences and paranormal happenings. Visitors to the area should take note that most of the schools do not allow visitors who are in search of ghosts.

Roy High School

Roy High School, located on West 4800 South, Roy, is reportedly haunted by the ghost of a girl named "Mable." Nobody is aware of how the girl passed away. Visitors, staff and students report seeing the apparition in the school's auditorium where she moves props and turns the lights on and off. Another ghost at the school is a lady who wears a purple-colored hat. The woman is said to spend her time in the auditorium as well and tries to entice people to follow her, although most fear her due to the evil atmosphere that surrounds her. A third ghost that is said to haunt the school's auditorium is that of a floating head that hovers about the balcony area on the upper left-hand side. The last reported ghost at the school is that of a boy who wanders the halls, walking alongside the living. Some say that his breath is felt and there is a feeling of being watched.

Southern Utah University

Southern Utah University in Cedar City reports haunted occurrences in the "old main" building on the campus. Most of the happenings, which nobody can explain, revolve around the school's electrical equipment. Lights are turned on by themselves and the elevator seems to have a mind of its own, trapping students who ride in it. Some people report that a woman roams around the building's third floor and it is common for people to be afraid of being in the structure during the night time hours. Another campus structure that is reported haunted is the auditorium. There is a tunnel that runs the length of the stage and there are reports of ghost sightings.

Holt Elementary School

Holt Elementary School, located in Clearfield, has had several reports of strange happenings. The haunted occurrences are said to be the result of the spirit of a boy who died during the 1980s. He died after school one day while swimming in a local pond. People often see the boy on the steps at the back of the building and many report seeing wet footprints on the steps. The boy is said to wave before disappearing.

Pleasant Grove High School

The janitor and maintenance workers at Pleasant Grove High School in Pleasant Grove report hauntings that all seem to revolve around the school's auditorium. Nobody knows why the building is haunted, and the school has not had a paranormal investigation, but there are reports that six doors are padlocked every night by the janitor, and standing wide open by the next morning.
