Fantasy Wedding Themes

Your wedding can have the look and feel of a beachside paradise in any location.

Make your wedding special and memorable by choosing a fantasy theme that is close to your heart, so even if you can't get married in the tropics, on Antarctica, during the Renaissance or in the Star Trek universe, you can still have a wedding that creates the same atmosphere. With creative themes, you can make your wedding dreams come true.

  1. Tropical Island

    • Many couples would love to get married in the tropics with an entire island all to themselves, but this isn't always financially practical for the couple and the guests. Fulfill this fantasy by decorating the ceremony reception with palm leaves and tropical flowers. Ask guests to dress in casual and breezy clothing for the wedding, and adorn the tables at the reception with tropical fruit bouquets and serve fruity frozen drinks from a tiki bar. Have your caterer provide native foods from your favorite tropical location.

    Winter Wonderland

    • Create the look of a winter wonderland for your wedding with white linens, and accent your tables with silver. Elegant snowflakes make lovely place mats for guests, and clear rhinestones sprinkled around the serving tables and cake table evoke the feel of ice. Silver sleigh bells remind people of winter, so edge the tables with bells hanging from scallops of ribbon. Consider adding fake fur or cow hide chairs for the wedding party to make the head table look and feel like a cozy escape from the cold.

    Medieval Madrigal

    • The Renaissance period has a lot of romantic appeal for people because of the ribbon detailing and corset based gowns of the era. Wear Renaissance-style clothing and encourage guests to do the same. Hold a madrigal feast for the reception with the bridal party at the head table and waiters as entertainers. Decorate for the reception with sheer, draped fabrics and make placecards with a medieval style font that is ornamental and highly embellished. Serve turkey legs, soup in bread bowls, sweet potatoes, dried meats and Bavarian nuts.

    Science Fiction

    • It might be impossible to live in a science fiction universe, but you can still have your fantasy come true on your wedding day. Use cardboard cutouts and costumes from whatever the science fiction world you wish your wedding to take place in to create the illusion that you're actually there. For example, if you are a Star Trek fan, have your wedding party dress in officers uniforms and stage your reception like Quark's bar. If you're going for a Star War's theme, decorate with cutouts of pod racers or create an Ewok jungle with hanging vines and fake leather table linens.
