Boarding schools and reform schools are private institutions with special resources designed to help students succeed.

Reform schools are for students who have behaved as delinquents. Boarding schools are schools where students live with fellow students and teachers. These schools can have both on-campus students and also day students who live with their families off campus after classes. Private institutions provide a broad range of options, from equine assisted therapy to boot camps.

  1. Advanced Academy of Georgia

    • The Advanced Academy of Georgia, located in Carrollton, is a boarding school that serves grades 11 and 12. More than 90 percent of the faculty have advanced degrees. This school is co-ed. The majority of boarding schools are co-ed, but some boarding schools are designed specifically for boys or girls.

    Brook Hill School

    • Parents who send their children to boarding schools usually want programs that provide students with a lot of advanced placement courses so they can maximize their success in college. Brook Hill School has more than 25 advanced placement courses. This school is a non-profit corporation that is divided into lower, middle and upper levels representing elementary, junior and high school respectively. Lower school curriculum includes the arts, biblical studies, language arts, math, music, physical education, science, social studies, Spanish and computer skills. The middle and upper courses are divided into the humanities, government, economics, history, foreign language, math, logic and biblical studies. This boarding school is in Bullard, Texas.

    Turning Winds

    • Turning Winds is a therapeutic boarding school, which has a combined emphasis on academic excellence and therapy for troubled students. This school has both highly trained teachers and an experienced clinical team that provides students with one-on-one counseling. Turning Winds is in Troy, Montana.
