Royal Wedding Themes

Many brides opt for a royal-themed wedding for their special day.

Royal weddings capture the attention of commoners and royals alike. The pageantry and majesty of a royal wedding creates a fairytale atmosphere that transports guests and participants to another world. Your royal-themed wedding can do the same. There are several touches any couple can add to their wedding to give it a regal feel and create a memorable event.

  1. Wedding Dress

A royal wedding calls for a regal dress. Dresses adorned with crystals, beading, pearls and other gemstones are fit for any princess. Rich, opulent fabrics are another choice to give the bride's dress that royal touch. Long trains and flowing veils emulate the look of many authentic royal weddings. Choose a classic style dress rather than following the latest trends and incorporate a tiara into your look to project the proper demeanor.

    Wedding Colors

Every bride knows that choosing the proper colors for her wedding is crucial. Wedding colors set the tone and add to the theme. Rather than opting for pale pastel colors as many brides do, choose bright, bold royal colors. Royal blue, emerald green, red, gold and purple are all options. Historically, certain colors were reserved for use by royalty and were forbidden to commoners. Luckily, in this day and age, you're free to go all out and choose the appropriate colors to accent your wedding day.

    Wedding Cake

The wedding cake for a royal theme wedding must be over the top. Several tiers with intricate designs are the only thing good enough for this regal event. Take care not to cross over into the land of tacky, however. In spite of its size and design, avoid bright colors, flowers and other obtrusive decorations. Gold, silver or pastel trim, hand-painted crests and monograms are all tasteful options for the royal wedding cake.

    Wedding Venue

Choosing the venue for a royal wedding is all important. A large church or cathedral is always appropriate and provides the proper atmosphere. Small chapels, halls and public parks simply won't do. Historic buildings, castles, buildings with Gothic architecture and manor houses will give the wedding an impressive aura. Look for art institutes, museums and other elegant locations that are available for weddings and large events. Older Catholic and Orthodox churches are perfect settings if you happen to be a member.
