Children's Activities About the Circus
Everyone loves the circus! Clowns, acrobats and exotic animals assure you that there will always be something to see. The circus may not be in town, but that doesn't mean that you can't have fun with some circus themed activities and bring the circus right to you.

Be a Clown
-
If you don't mind getting a little messy, this activity is a lot of fun. Gather old make-up (left-over Halloween make-up is a good choice) and lots of old clothes and help your children dress-up in the silliest clown costumes they can create. Old shirts with holes in them make good costumes, as do old hats. Red lipstick provides a great way to create clown smile. Eye liner works well at creating the rest of the clown face. Ask children to act silly and dance around like real clowns do.
Stuffed Animal Circus
-
Gather all the stuffed animals and dolls you can find and create an animal circus. Assign specific jobs to each of the animals and locate props around the house to help them fullfill their circus acts. Use hula-hoops as rings for stuffed dogs to jump (or more accurately, be thrown) through. Plush seals can balance balls (with a little help). Stuffed elephants are great rides for smaller dolls. Teddy bears in tutus are great dancers. Siblings, parents or other dolls make a great audience.

3D Clown picture
-
Draw the face of a clown on postboard. Have children help you color it in. Where the nose is, make an "X" cut. Blow-up a red balloon and after tying the end, insert the knot through the "X" cut. Your clown now has a big red balloon nose.
Juggling
-
Make small, square bags out of fabric scraps and fill with navy beans. Teach children the first steps in learning to juggle by holding hands about 12 inches apart and practice tossing one bean bag from hand to hand. Once that is perfected, add a second bean bag, and later, a third.
