Art Scholarships for African Americans
African American students majoring in art-related fields of study can receive financial assistance to help with the cost of attending college. Art majors include visual and performing arts, painting and photograph. Art students may face the usual expenses such as tuition and other field-related expenses such as instruments, paints and brushes.

John Lennon Endowed Scholarship

The John Lennon Endowed Scholarship is available for African American art students who are attending a United Negro College Fund member college or university. The scholarship is also open to high school seniors who will be attending a UNCF member institution. Students must meet a 3.0 grade point average requirement to be considered. As of the 2009-2010 academic school year, recipients could receive up to $5,000 in financial assistance.
Disney Scholarship

The Disney Scholarship awards up to $5,000 to selected winners as of the 2009-2010 school year. The scholarship is available to African American students who are attending a United Negro College Fund member college or university. Students must meet the 2.5 grade point average requirement and major in certain fields of study including art, performing arts and music. The scholarship is also open to students who are majoring in theater arts and communications.

Spencer A. Williams Art Scholarship

African American art students who are graduates of the East St. Louis-Lincoln Senior high school can apply for financial support through the Spencer A. Williams Art Scholarship. As of the 2009-2010 school year, the scholarship provided $250 per academic year to a select student. The scholarship is open to students who are attending a four-year accredited college or university. Students who are attending an alternative art school are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Curtis M. Saulsbury Scholarship Fund

African American students with a focus on art music can apply for assistance through the Curtis M. Saulsbury Scholarship Fund. The scholarship is available to students from New Haven, Connecticut who are high school seniors. Students must be able to demonstrate a financial need to be considered. The scholarship awards varying amounts to selected winners. The scholarship is offered by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.
