Savings and investment games for kids are a fun way for children to learn the importance of money management. It's important to teach children about money at an early age because it helps them develop a healthy attitude toward money. Kids who learn the importance of saving and investing are more likely to be self-reliant when they are adults and not resort to financial help from their parents over and over again. Their are many free games for kids online that can teach them how to save and invest money.

  1. Mad Money

    • PBSKids.org has a game for children on its site called Mad Money, which teaches children how to save money for things they want to buy. Children start the game by selecting an item they want to purchase, then they are given a shopping list of monthly expenses they have to pay for. Whenever the child makes a wise purchase, they get closer to purchasing their item. Whenever the child makes an unwise purchase, she get further from reaching her goal.

    Apples 4 the Teacher Money Games

    • Apples4theTeacher.com has several math games for young children that teach them how to count and save money. Kids can solve basic addition and subtraction problems, as well as word problems to learn how to count coins and bills. There are also puzzles to help children learn which presidents are on the $1 and $5 bills.

    Practical Money Skills

    • PracticalMoneySkills.com has seven different games for children ages 11 through 18. Each game teaches kids a different skill related to saving and investing money. Games, like "Financial Football" and "Financial Soccer" teach kids money management skills by having them answer financial questions to score each touchdown or goal. "Countdown to Retirement" has the player manage a character's investments until they reach their retirement goal. "Road Trip to Savings" simulates a four-week road trip in which the child must manage his savings on the road until he reaches his destination.
