Many people who plan showers like to have a theme, and even the foods that they serve fit into the theme. For an afternoon shower or an informal shower, it is easy to put out several snacks that are baby boy themed. Blue candies like M and Ms, or blueberries in a bowl are very theme-oriented. If you want to do more work, you can open a few packages of fruit snacks and pick out all of the blues and put them in a bowl. No matter what colors the mother-to-be is using for the baby boy's room or clothing, blue is always a good choice for a baby boy's shower.

For a formal shower or a dinner shower, you might want to make actual main courses that go along with the theme. Baby-oriented foods, like baby carrots, baby peas, or other bite-sized and small items work. You can also use blueberries to garnish dinner plates, so that there is a smattering of blue everywhere on the table.

Desserts are the easiest items to make into your baby boy theme. Boys are notoriously messy, so you can use crumbled Oreo cookies to make dirt cups and put wriggly candy worms in them. You can also use blue food coloring for your frosting for cookies, cupcakes and cakes. Anything with blueberries in it, like muffins or even parfaits, also works with the baby boy theme.

Drinks can also fit into the food you make for a baby boy's shower. Blue kid's drinks or virgin daquaries or drinks made with blue food color or blue flavoring will give off a definite "Boy" atmosphere.
