Retirement Gifts for Husbands
A retirement often brings mixed feelings. Many people are thrilled to be freed of the daily commute and responsibilities of work; however, they may also be worried about missing their co-workers or what they will do with all their free time. If your husband is about to retire, consider gifts that will give him something fun or relaxing to do during the day.
-
Gym Membership
-
A gym membership is a great way to keep your husband active during his retirement. It has the added benefit of providing him with the social interaction he may miss once retired as well as a place to go during the day. When choosing a gym, look for one that is close to your home, preferably in walking distance. Also, consider which gym has the most facilities your husband will enjoy, such as a pool or racket ball room.
Recreational Accessories
-
If your husband has a recreational activity he loves, such as golf or fishing, then a gift that will make this activity more enjoyable is a great choice. For example, if your husband loves to golf, consider giving him a membership to a golf club and/or a new set of clubs. If he loves to fish, consider giving him a new fishing boat or a fishing accessory kit.
-
Magazine Subscription
-
A one-year or even lifetime subscription to a magazine he loves will give him something new to read on a weekly or monthly basis. Even if he doesn't have a favorite magazine, you can find one that covers a topic that interests him. For example, you can get a subscription to a magazine that focuses on wine, beer, sports, cars, birds, space, cooking, gardening, travel, pets, politics or health. Of course, these are just a few of the many options.
Massage Chair
-
A massage chair is a wonderful way to make your husband enjoy his new found freedom. He can sit in it while drinking his morning coffee and watching the news, while he reads the paper or to take an afternoon nap. For an added touch, include a gift card to a movie rental store and/or a popcorn maker with his massage chair.
Vacation
-
If your husband loves to travel, then a vacation might be your best bet. If you are on a tight budget, many sell-off vacations to all-inclusive Caribbean resorts can be found online for significantly reduced prices. Another more expensive option is a cruise. If you are retired as well, consider taking a four-week or longer cruise. Of course, if money is no object, you could take an extended vacation to a luxury resort in Africa, Europe or Asia or take a world cruise which are typically 90 to 100 days in length.
