Ideas for Jungle-Themed Baby Shower Cakes
For a unisex baby shower theme, decorate the party venue with jungle animals, decorate a diaper cake with animal print blankets and make one of a variety of unique cake designs to coordinate with the theme. Novice bakers and cake decorators can make an adorable baby block cake with fondant jungle animals, or opt for a sleek centerpiece with a set of animal-print cakes.

Animal-Print Cakes
-
Bake three cakes in 8- or 10-inch round cake pans. Cut off any rounded tops with a serrated knife. Roll out three packages of white fondant, one yellow and one tan, and smooth the one-color fondant onto each cake. Alternatively, spread a layer of butter cream icing in each of the colors onto the cakes. Use edible paints to paint black stripes onto the white cake and the orange cake to make a zebra-print cake and a tiger-striped cake. Paint circles onto the tan cake with the black edible paint to make a leopard-print cake. Leave the cakes as they are for a sleek party centerpiece or decorate the tops of the cakes with candy or plastic animals.
Jungle Animal Blocks Cake
-
Prepare a cake that looks like wooden building blocks covered with safari animals. Prepare and bake two cake mixes in two 10-inch-by-13-inch cake pans. Cut off the rounded tops once the cakes have cooled and spread a layer of icing on the top of one cake. Place the other cake on top and cut the cake into squares with a serrated knife. Spread a layer of butter cream icing on each square. Roll out a package of fondant and use animal-shaped cookie cutters to cut shapes from the fondant. Moisten the back of each shape and place them on various sides of the blocks.

Jungle Onesie
-
Prepare a rectangular slab cake using one or two layers of cake. Spread a layer of green icing on the top and sides of the cake, and smooth the icing with an icing smoother. Place a onesie onto a piece of paper and cut around the onesie. Roll out a package of white fondant and place the paper cutout on the fondant. Cut around the paper with a sharp knife and place the fondant onesie in the center of the cake. Cut out a small semi-circle from the fondant to make the bottom flap and place it on the onesie. Roll out small packages of fondant in different colors and use miniature jungle animal and tree cookie cutters to make cutouts for the onesie. Cut out extra animal and tree shapes to place around the onesie as well.
Three-Tier Jungle Animal Cake
-
Prepare three cake mixes and divide them into two, 10-inch cake pans, two, 8-inch cake pans and two, 6-inch cake pans. Bake the cakes, allow them to cool and then cut off any rounded tops. Spread a layer of icing on one of each size cake. Place the corresponding cake onto the iced tops and then stack the layers. Spread a smooth layer of icing over the entire cake. Decorate the bottom of each layer with candy animal shapes or make some from candy melts and candy molds. Insert animal-shaped lollipops or wooden animal shapes into various spots throughout the cake.
