Easter Activities for Children's Ministry
According to Christian scripture, Easter marks the day on which Jesus was resurrected from his tomb, three days after his crucifixion. The holiday is linked to the Jewish Passover. It has no fixed date from year to year, but instead falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the vernal equinox. Does this Spark an idea?

Skits
-
If you have a group of children that you think are old enough to understand and participate in a production of the events before, during or after Jesus' resurrection, you could write a script and have them stage a performance. This activity engages the children in the events, making them feel more connected to the role that Jesus played in their eventual salvation. If you have more time, you could involve the children in the creation of the script by having them outline the overall plot or even the dialogue.
Comic Book
-
Have the children work together to create pictorial representations of the events surrounding Jesus' resurrection. You can have children work individually or in groups and assign them specific sections of the story, from Jesus' capture to Peter's denial to the resurrection. Then, have the students caption their pictures. Compile the pictures together in a book format and make copies for the children, so that each may have a veritable comic book explaining the importance of Easter.

Crafts
-
Have the children use beads, paper, markers or any other craft tools to assemble crosses to represent the cross Jesus had to carry and to which he was nailed. They can make necklaces, bracelets, magnets or colored pictures of crosses. Have them include related Bible verses, such as Luke 24, verses 46 and 47. This will allow them to take their craft home and put it on their refrigerator or in their bedroom and be reminded of Jesus' sacrifice daily.
Movies
-
Have the children in your ministry watch a film about the events of Easter, like "Easter Promise," a film by Vision Video or "The Easter Story," a video in the Great Adventure Series. Videos like these tell the Easter story in a way that is interesting and engaging for children and purvey important messages like love and forgiveness.
