Wedding Anniversary Ideas by Years
With an approaching anniversary comes the desire to do something thoughtful for your significant other. Each year can be an entirely unique celebration of your time together. With a few standout ideas, you can make this next anniversary one to remember.

Countdown with Flowers
-
Send your spouse a daily bouquet of flowers for every year that you've been together, leading up to your anniversary date. If you've been married for 10 years, send her a bouquet at work or at home once a day starting nine days before your anniversary date. On the included cards, you could include sentiments from your shared past or hopes and aspirations for the future. Use the anniversary-specific flower or your spouse's favorite flower. For years one through ten, the respective flowers are pansy, cosmos, fuchsia, geranium, daisy, calla lily, jack-in-the-pulpit, clematis and poppy. The respective flowers for years 11 through 14 are daffodil, morning glory, peony, hollyhock and dahlia; years 15 through 19 are all the rose. Years 20 through 24 are all the day lily, 25 through 27 are all the iris, the orchid is the flower for years 28 and 29, and the sweet pea is the flower for years 30 through 39. For years 40 through 49, the flower is the nasturtium and for years 50 and above, the violet is the flower.
Countdown with Lingerie
-
For women wanting to make an impression on their spouse, get a new piece of lingerie for every year of your marriage and begin revealing them on the days leading up to the anniversary date. Accompanied by a candlelit dinner each night or just on the anniversary date is an intimate way to celebrate your time together.

Anniversary Party
-
What better way to celebrate your anniversary than to invite your friends and family to a party? You can decorate your house or a hall in a similar fashion to the theme of your wedding or go with a themed party. Recreate the wedding cake for an additional touch. Making your own games, like family trivia or a scavenger hunt in the back yard, give things an interactive flair.
Wedding Day Revisited
-
Recreate your wedding day by decorating your spouse's car as it was on your wedding day, complete with balloons, confetti or stringed cans hanging off the back. Make reservations at the hotel you first stayed in as a married couple, hopefully being able to get the same room. Be ready with a present featuring the corresponding gift signifying the year of your marriage. For the first ten years of marriage, the respective gifts are paper, cotton, leather, fruit/flowers, wood, candy, copper/wool, bronze, pottery and tin. For years 11 through 14, the respective traditional gifts are steel, silk, lace and ivory. Crystal is the gift for years 15 through 19 and china for years 20 through 24. For years 25 through 29, silver is the traditional gift. Pearl is the traditional gift for years 30 through 34 and coral is for years 35 through 39. For years 40 through 44, the ruby is considered traditional and for the years 45 through 49, the sapphire is the traditional gift. For years 50 through 54, gold is the traditional gift and for years 55 through 59, it is emerald. For years 55 and above, the traditional gift is the diamond.
Picnic
-
Whether it be a favorite or romantic location, or simply in your own living room, use a picnic basket as the lead-in to a romantic anniversary. Decide on a place to take your spouse, whether it's a weekend away or a favorite restaurant, and prepare a picnic to surprise your loved one. Fill the picnic basket with favorite wines, cheeses, chocolates and any other snacks. In addition, fill the basket with little clues to the real anniversary destination.
