"Everyone is the age of their heart." -- Guatemalan proverb

PowerPoint is a tool that packages multimedia in a single presentation to help you explain, describe, persuade or argue a point. The heart is a misleadingly small, life-sustaining organ that often gets credited with holding all your emotions, intuition, spunk, passion and love. You can go many directions when combining the heart and PowerPoint in a single endeavor.

  1. Romance

    • On Valentine's Day, the familiar heart figure adorns countless greeting cards, each attempting to express just the right words of affection. So why not customize a romantic greeting of your own in PowerPoint? With words and pictures, tell your loved one "You hold a piece of my heart" or "You are always in my heart." As you profess your love, sprinkle photos of you as a couple throughout the slide show and play your love song in the background. Note: It does not need to be Valentine's Day to indulge in this project.

    Health

    • You can create a series of presentations based on heart health. Some may be purely educational, others motivational and still others, a combination of both. You could research how the human heart works or compile healthy heart facts. You also can discover and present the correlation between a sound heart and diet, exercise, stress and body mass index. Commit your findings to expository PowerPoint presentations.

    Language

    • The word "heart" is pervasive in the English language; a quick search in OneLook Dictionary reveals no less than 2,000 phrases containing the word. Colloquial expressions may fly past the understanding of those who have learned English as a second language. Create a PowerPoint presentation that introduces and explains these phrases, idioms and slang expressions to them. Illustrate what happens when one has a change of heart, melts someone's heart, wins your heart, cuts to the heart of a problem or is the heart and soul of a group. Give examples of famously coldhearted and warmhearted individuals. Clarify what a heart-to-heart talk is and exactly what they mean when they sing "You Gotta' Have Heart" in the movie "Damn Yankees."

    Music

    • Create retrospective presentations by decade of songs that made it to the "Top 10" charts whose titles include the word "heart." This project will exercise your research muscles and make you an expert in inserting and tweaking audio files in your presentation. A variation of this project could focus on the best love songs of the '40s, '50s and so forth.
