While Washington D.C. is commonly known as the home to the nation's president, it is also home to many Christian colleges as well, but only those that follow the Catholic faith. The district welcomes all Christians by offering a variety of churches in the immediate area that reach out to Christian faiths, while each Catholic college and university welcomes every student regardless of faith and belief.

Georgetown University

Established in 1789, Georgetown University is the nation's oldest Catholic and Jesuit University. With belief that students get the full university experience through exposure to faith and belief, Georgetown University offers opportunities such as study abroad, more than 200 co-curricular activities and clubs, and a campus ministry that believes in learning about all religion's through “interreligious understanding.” Georgetown University also offers more than 16 areas of study, each holding subcategories where students can choose a more precise area of focus.

Trinity Washington University

Originally founded in 1897 as an all-women's college by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, today the college welcomes both men and women of all faiths to the Catholic college. Located less than three miles from the U.S. Capitol, Trinity Washington University offers programs in their five schools including ones covering education, arts & science, nursing and professional studies. Home to more than 2,000 students each year, Trinity Washington University also offers opportunities for students to participate in student government, Ascension Ministries, NAACP, pep squad and many other organizations and athletics.

Mount St. Mary's University

Originally founded in 1808, Mount St. Mary's University is built the pillars of faith, discovery, leadership and community. Located in Emmitsburg, Maryland, 70 miles north of the nation's capitol, this Catholic university offers its students at least 40 majors and minors, along with a seminary for men who wish to turn to priesthood. The Mount also gives students the opportunity to participate in a variety of clubs and activities such as cooking club, sororities, and Mount Mentors 4 Kids. Mount St. Mary's also offers its students a nightclub on campus after hours.

Marymount University

Founded in 1950 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary, Marymount University is an independent coeducation Catholic University. Located in Arlington, Virginia, minutes from Washington D.C., Marymount University enrolls more than 3,500 students who represent 42 states and 69 countries each semester. Marymount University offers 40 majors and minors to choose from in degree programs, pre-professional studies, and teaching licensure programs. Upon offering 85 percent of its students financial assistance, Marymount University is also a place where students can find themselves involved with campus ministry, study abroad opportunities, and clubs such as The Green Society, International Club, Gaming Club, and Commuter Activities Board.
