Trinity

With a ratio of six students to one teacher, Trinity in New York City rates as the best prep school. Celebrating its third century of education in 2009, Trinity offers diverse programs for its 1,000 students including European and Asian philosophies, globalization and its discontents. medical ethics and urban architecture. Twenty faculty have a PH.D and 94 have a Masters. All Trinity students participate in the community service program that ranges from assisting seniors, holding an annual blood drive and working with Habitat for Humanity.
Horace Mann

Horace Mann has the highest percentage of teachers with advanced degrees at more than 90 percent. The student to teacher ratio is 12 to 1. Located in the Bronx on 18 acres, almost 2,000 students attend annually with 30 percent from diverse ethnic backgrounds. Students can choose from more than 60 clubs, 200 academic programs and 50 athletic teams. All students must complete 80 hours of community service to graduate. The weekly newspaper, "The Record" is the oldest student newspaper in the U.S., and is one of 21 student publications. Horace Mann has an art gallery, a 650-seat theater and multiple sports facilities.

Paul Revere gave Philip's Academy its motto "Not for self" in 1778. Located 20 miles from Boston, the academy's student to teacher ratio is five to one with an average class size of 13. About 1,000 students can select from more than 300 courses including mathematics, environmental science, philosophy and world languages. Philips' offers 80 clubs such as young entrepreneurs, eco-action, center for global justice and Japanese animation. The majority of Philips' graduates attend college with Harvard, Yale and Stanford as the top choices.
Brearley School

The highest rated all-girls prep school by Forbes is the Brearley School in Manhattan. The student to teacher ratio is 6 to 1 with less than 700 students. As of 2010, Brearley had a 100 million dollar endowment. Some of the courses Brearley offers include the arts, robotics and engineering, mathematics, publishing and natural science. Brearley has one of New York's finest field houses that often host national events. The other athletic facilities consist of two gyms, a dance hall, swimming pool and tennis courts.
