Good Wedding Gifts for Parents
It is traditional to present wedding gifts for members of your bridal party, but many brides and grooms opt to celebrate their special day by presenting gifts to their mothers and fathers the evening before at the rehearsal dinner. You may also give your parents tokens of your appreciation after the ceremony, such as keepsakes of the wedding. A good wedding gift for parents is anything you know they would enjoy, but wedding companies offer some interesting suggestions.

Personalized or Engraved Gifts
-
Engraved gifts are special and personal. If you are giving a gift to your parents before the wedding, consider an articles of clothing or hats that say "Father of the bride" or "Mother of the groom" that they can wear at the rehearsal dinner and reception. Many gift shops will engrave monograms or any letters or words you wish on items such as rings, watches, plaques, belts and cuff links.
Photographs
-
Before the ceremony, you could present a framed engagement photo to your parents or a photo of your parents with you and your new spouse. Consider a photographer's gift certificate to select wedding photos or put together a special photo album of your wedding for them. A DVD of your wedding is sure to please, or have a wedding photo made into a tapestry for them at a Walmart photo center. Other photo ideas include a photo of you and your new spouse on a coffee mug, calendar, fridge magnets or jigsaw puzzle.

Gift Cards
-
Give your parents a gift card to thank them for all their help with a weekend away, a meal at their favorite restaurant, theater tickets or a day at the spa. Consider basketball-game tickets for Dad or tuition for a cooking class for him. Pay for a scrapbooking class for Mom and then go with her to the class. Alternatively, if you happen to know of some item that your parents have wanted to get for some time, surprise them with it.
Inexpensive Wedding Gifts
-
Weddings can be very expensive and can eat up most of a young couple's budget, but there are plenty of gifts you can create yourself inexpensively. Consider giving your parents the figurines that you used on top of your wedding cake or a vase you used at the reception. Purchase a frame at a dollar store and write a poem or letter as a personal "thank you" to your parents. Alternatively, you could create your own certificate describing a task you can perform for your parents, such as cleaning their house, pet-sitting while they're on vacation or spending a movie night at your home together to reconnect as a family after the wedding.
