Consider using the colors of fall for your wedding as well.

When planning a wedding, you want to give guests you are sure you are inviting a long lead time on when and where the wedding will take place. This allows the guests to make travel arrangements such as booking air travel and hotel rooms. If you are having a fall wedding, you can tie the save-the-date notice into the season.

  1. Fall Magnets

    • If you are planning your fall wedding an entire year in advance, which is not uncommon, have photos of yourself and your future spouse taken against a fall backdrop. Select a location that evokes the emotion of fall such as an orchard, a heavily wooded area with colored leaves, or at a fall festival. After having the picture taken, locate a magnet company which will use the image as the basis for your save the date. Add details such as the date, time and location of your wedding.

    Autumn Leaves

    • An autumn leaf instantly gives off the idea of fall. Obtain fall leaf paper from your local craft store. Some fall paper comes in a perforated sheet which can be placed in your printer. Create the save the date by using a word program to add the details of your wedding to the paper. It might take a little trial and error as you align the text with the leaf paper; however, once printed you will have autumn leaf save-the-date notices. Find an envelope which complements the colors of your leaf. Earth tones such as burnt orange, yellows and browns are options which may match.

    Painted Pumpkins

    • If a majority of your guests are local, create a distinctive save-the-date idea by painting small pumpkins. Go to the craft store and purchase paint and brushes. Paint the name of the bride and groom as well as the date and location on the pumpkin. To complement the save-the-date pumpkin, add a pumpkin-shaped save-the-date notice which is tied to the stem with twine. The notice should be printed on card stock. The save-the-date pumpkin card will serve as a backup notice if the pumpkin starts to rot. These can then be hand delivered to your guests or shipped by mail.

    Apple Bookmark

    • Apples are traditionally harvested in the fall. Create a save-the-date invitation on thick card stock which is in the shape of an apple. You may even find apple-shaped paper at your local craft store. Add details in a word program such as the date, time and location of the wedding. After printing and separating or cutting out the bookmark, add a piece of ribbon or twine to the stem. Use a hole punch, then tie the ribbon through the hole using a square knot.
