Vegetable Games for Kids

Create vegetable games to teach your children the importance of eating well.

It is not easy to get your children on board with eating vegetables. However, you may consider using games to make vegetables fun for your children. They may respond better to games than a lecture. Teach your kids the importance of eating vegetables in a way they will enjoy.

  1. Veggie Bingo

    • Make bingo cards using vegetables. Give your kids stickers or stamps for marking their cards. Before you play the game, discuss a variety of vegetables and share facts about how good vegetables are for you. For example, carrots are good for your eyesight. You can use this fact and others to make veggie bingo fun.

    Veggie Puppets

    • Use white paper bags, markers and construction paper to make vegetable puppets. At meal time, have your puppets appear from under the table to encourage your kids to eat their vegetables. You can make a short skit or give interesting facts. You may consider making your own non-vegetable characters your kids will enjoy seeing at the table.

    Building a Better Body

    • Grab some flashcards. On one side glue pictures of body parts and on the other write how veggies help this body part. Gather your kids around and make teams of two. Have one person on the team hold the card with the picture facing their teammate. Set a timer and let the guessing begin.

    Play with Your Food

    • Slice up veggies and let your kids make designs on paper plates. They can use toothpicks to attach legs and tails. Take pictures of your kids' creations. Post them on the fridge as a reminder for your kids about how fun vegetables can be.
