Celebrity Wear-it-up Hairstyles
Celebrities get many opportunities to sport an updo. They have hair stylists that know which cuts and styles flatter their face shapes. They bask on countless red carpets, while photographers snap away at the dresses and hair. Their looks are not complete without a gorgeous hairstyle and many women prefer classy or funky updos, whichever ones will make a statement. Does this Spark an idea?

Tightly Pulled Back
-
Many celebrities want the focus to be on their clothing and makeup. The hair needs to be simple, yet away from the face. Stars like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, as seen at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards, wear this chic style. The key to achieving a taut, pulled-back ponytail is spritzing the hair with water and hair spray and actually pulling or combing it back from the face and then nestling the ponytail holder on the high crown of the head. This creates a face-lift effect, helping to shape and define cheek and brow bones.
The Chignon
-
The chignon hairstyle is a common look among the stars and "average" people. Beauty & the Bath suggests that this look is a "statement of polish, good taste and chic." The website claims that celebrities like Michelle Trachtenberg, Paris Hilton and Madonna all have worn this look. All you need to do is tie up your hair and wrap the hair around the band creating a bun look. This is so versatile that you can make it loose with hair flowing from it, or tight and preppy. You may also braid the hair before wrapping it around.

The Top Knot or High Bun
-
Celebrities tend to wear their updos in a fashion that is anything but a prom look, with perfected curls and criss-crossed pinned pieces. A hair style seen on celebrities often, as of 2011, is a messy high, high, high bun. Fashionista and actress Sarah Jessica Parker often wears this look, which is essentially a really high bun on the actual top of the head. Other stars actually create a "knot" on the top of their head by wrapping the pony-tail holder once and then pulling the hair through, folding it and then wrapping it around again.
Side Updos
-
A style of the eighties is coming back again: side ponytails. When done with soft curls and pulled gently toward one shoulder, the look is refined and delicate. Celebrities have been donning one shoulder-strapped dresses and this look helps to show off that detail. Stars like Taylor Swift wear this look, which helps to elongate the neck and show dimension. The key is to not pull the hair too severely and possibly allow loose bangs or fallen pieces.
