Fun Math Activities for the End of the School Year
At the end of the school year, when you and your students are ready to wind things down, make your math class fun with some activities that you and the children can enjoy together. Make your math activities fun, yet educational, so that they reinforce what your students have learned.
-
How Do We Use This?
-
For an end of the year project, divide your students into groups of three or four. Have the students do a little bit of research on the type of math you are learning and how it is used in the real world. If possible, have them interview someone who has a job in which they use this type of math everyday. When they finish, have them present their findings to the rest of the class.
Math Bingo
-
Create or purchase blank Bingo cards from a local teacher supply store. Write several different numbers on each Bingo card. Pass out the Bingo cards to each student and then write equations on the board one at a time. Students will have to solve the equation to see if they can cross out a number. The first student to get a Bingo will win the game.

Math Worksheets
-
Divide your students up into groups of four or five. Hand out worksheets of all the math you have done this past year. The students will then have to solve the problems on the worksheet as fast as possible. The first group to finish the worksheet, with all of the correct answers, will "win" the activity.
Bean Bag Math
-
Have your students stand in a circle. Get a bean bag or another object that can be thrown without hurting someone. Each student will give themselves a number. In order to throw the bean bag to a particular student, the student with the bean bag must say an equation equal to the number of the student. For example if a student has picked number two, the student with the bean bag must say "four minus two" before throwing it to the student. If the student hesitates too long, she is "out."
