Wedding Decorating Ideas Pink & Brown Polka Dots
Pink and brown polka dot wedding decor does not mean that all decorative elements have to have pink and brown polka dots. Decorating for a wedding is all about enhancing your theme. Use several shades of pink such as pastel pink, warm pink, bubblegum pink and even antique pink. Do the same with brown -- include tans, taupe, wood brown and even raspberry-brown. Layering adds visual interest, so go beyond one shade of brown and one shade of pink.

Linens and Tableware

This pink bouquet is a great reference when decorating. A variety of shades and textures is key to beautiful decor. Wedding tables are just big polka dots. Stick with two colors for your tablecloths. A soft muted brown and a muted pink tablecloth will serve as a base for the rest of your wedding decor. Make sure the tablecloths are of the same color value. You would not want to pair a bright pink with a diluted brown. Sheer fabrics, rather than heavy opaque fabrics, will leave the room light, airy and elegant. Alternate colors so there is an equal number of brown and pink tablecloths. White round plates emphasize the "polka dot" and will work well with soft-colored tablecloths. Napkins are a good place to have a pop of color. Tables with the pink tablecloth should have a rich pink napkins, and brown tables should have a darker brown napkin. Placing two shades of the same color next to one another is a form of decorative layering. If you cannot find colored napkins, use a white napkin tied with brown and pink polka dot pattern at least 2 inches thick.
Centerpiece
-
The wood contains a variety of rich natural brown tones that will bring out the twigs within the florals. Florals will give your wedding reception a fresh look. Layer your flowers with textures and a variety of pink shades. Incorporate the brown by using natural elements such as twigs and spiraled branches. Be careful not to make the centerpiece too full or elaborate so that guests can keep open sight and communication across the table. A centerpiece needs a base, a vase, flowers and accessories. To compliment the natural elements in the centerpiece, use tree slices as a base. Layer your centerpiece even more by using pink crystals to complement the shiny tablecloth, brass and gold accents to play off the browns and cream-colored candles to give romantic lighting.

Cake
-
Place these delicate strawberry creme desserts next to a chocolate polka dot wedding cake. Chocolate by nature, is brown, and strawberry flavor is pink. Take advantage of these two flavors by creating a large dessert buffet serving as the focal point of the entire reception. Create layers with icing, polka dot designs, candies and sprinkles. Bring other shades of pink and brown into the desserts by adding fresh strawberries, pink marshmallows, dark and milk chocolate drizzles, caramel and coffee. Accent colors of white and gold can be used to tie in the white dinnerware and centerpieces.
Favors
-
Brown and pink candy can be ordered through a candy company or homemade in your kitchen. Give all your guests a small taste of your dessert buffet by placing pink and brown round candies at their table settings. It's all about packaging when it comes to favors. Wrap the candies in polka dot tulle and use a polka dot ribbon for the tie.
