Activities to Do With Your Teenage Sons

It's not just your daughters that want to have fun; your sons want to do fun activities as a family, too.

It is often difficult for families to make time to engage in fun activities together. If you are a parent of teenage sons, it's important to come up with activities to complete with them. By making time for activities with your teenage sons, you are setting an excellent example of what family life should be like. You will also get to know your sons better, and build a trusting and positive family relationship.

Overnight Hike/Camping

Camping is a great way to build a positive, trust-filled relationship.

Take a trip to a campground in your local area. Consider bringing tents and supplies with you and making it an overnight event. While camping, there are many activities that your teenage sons will love. You can go nature watching, swimming or hunting, if it's allowed in your area. Spending the night in tents as you hike through the woods will give your sons a unique experience that they will remember for years to come.

Go Fishing

Take your teenage son out for a day on the lake.

Take your sons to an outdoor sporting goods store and help them choose the best fishing gear, including fishing poles, bait and tackle, and appropriate clothing. Then head out to a local marina. Most marinas provide the option of renting out a small boat for the day, which can make for a relaxing and enjoyable family activity.

Take Him Out to a Game

Take your teenage sons out to the ballgame.

Take your sons to a game of their choice, whether it's basketball, baseball, hockey or any other sport. Your sons will get to enjoy what they love, while being able to spend time with you during the game. Consider taking your sons to a college sporting event at schools they are considering attending.

Road Trip

Let your teenage sons choose a destination for a family road trip.

Road trips are an activity for the whole family. Your teenage sons will enjoy being able to choose at least one of the locations that your family will visit. Road trips can be taken to view potential college choices for your teenage sons, as well. Road trips provide plenty of time for family members to get to talk and interact.
