Wedding Centerpiece Ideas on a Budget
Wedding receptions are one of the most expensive parts of planning a wedding, and decorating is an important part of that. A table's centerpiece is an easy way to capture guests' attention and welcome them to your reception. With a little creativity and extra effort, you can create beautiful centerpieces at a low cost.

Mirror
-
Using a mirror can be an effective way to add a little extra flair to a centerpiece. Place a medium-sized mirror on the center of the table. Most craft stores have mirrors at low prices. Using a small vase, float a single flower (preferably your wedding flowers) in the vase. Arrange several candles in the colors of your wedding around the vase and on the mirror. Once lit, it creates a beautiful glow on the table.
Wine Glasses
-
Ask friends to collect wine glasses over the months leading up to the wedding. Soak the wine bottles so the labels will be easily removed. Place three to five wine bottles in the center of the table and place a single flower in each bottle. It creates a simple and yet creative look for your table. Or, substitute canning jars with a ribbon tied around the neck for the wine bottles.

Fruit
-
Add a little local flavor and provide guest favors in your centerpieces. Purchase or build your own small wood boxes and fill them with fresh fruit from a local farmers market. Stick with your favorite fruits and give guests a peek into who you are as a couple. By leaving a few notes around the table, you can also let guests know they are welcome to take fruit home or eat a piece at the reception.
Soap
-
Flowers tend to be expensive, even in season, so consider using a different centerpiece entirely. Use shaped soaps as centerpieces and as favors. You can shop thrift stores for a variety of vases or jars to hold the soaps in. Use a square plate on the table to scatter a few soaps on to and put the rest in the jar. Stick to simple shapes such as roses and seashells or shapes that reflect you as a couple.
