Something Blue Wedding Gifts
The "something blue" from the old English rhyme "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" is said to represent fidelity within a marriage. It is thought to be lucky to have each of the items within the proverb. However, it can be difficult to find the perfect blue gift that the bride can incorporate into her wedding day. If blue does not complement the color scheme of the wedding, choose something small or something that can be hidden underneath her dress, such as a garter.

Garter
-
A white garter with a blue satin thread is a traditional way for the bride to incorporate her "something blue." Choose a style that comes with a free tossing garter; this way the bride will still have one to keep as a memento of her wedding day. Choose a garter that complements the bride's taste and style, from one that is extravagantly stitched and full of diamantes to the simple and chic.
Charm
-
Purchase the bride a delicate blue charm and present it with a necklace or bracelet. The charm could be baby blue or a deep royal blue, depending upon the tastes of the bride. Buy your bracelet in silver or gold to complement the rest of her wedding day jewelry. Your charm could form the basis of a collection that is added to on her anniversaries to come.

Flowers
-
Incorporate your blue gift into her bouquet. If blue complements her color scheme, then purchase pale, powder blue or rich violet blooms to add sprigs of color to her bouquet. Flowers are a personal choice of the bride's, so you may wish to choose them together, should she wish to use the flowers as her "something blue." Alternatively, purchase a blue silk tie or blue diamantes that can be added to her existing flowers as a more subtle option.
Nail Polish
-
Blue nail polish can be used to paint the bride's toe nails for a cheeky take on "something blue." Blue toe nails can be disguised in closed-toe shoes under the bride's gown. A pastel shade or deep shade with glittery particles can be applied to her toes on the morning of the wedding. Add a blue ribbon to the bottle of nail polish and present it to the bride in a blue gift bag. Include a blue toe separator, which will help her nails dry evenly without the color rubbing off on her toes.
