Gift Ideas for a Deployed Husband
The men and women who serve our country and are deployed abroad for extended periods of time deserve to be pampered by their families and loved ones. However, it can be challenging to find the perfect gift for your husband while he is away and you are back home tending to the house and possibly the kids. Find the perfect gift for your man while he is deployed.
-
Space is Limited
-
One of the most challenging aspects of gift-giving to your deployed husband is the limited space that he has. In the U.S. Army, for example, soldiers can only bring home what fits in a modestly sized case. So don't send large or cumbersome gifts like hardcover books or board games. Instead, send him a kindle or a nook, which will allow him to read as many books as he wants without taking up an entire shelf.
Food, Glorious Food
-
In many countries, it can be difficult for your man to find the sweets and treats he loves so much from back home. Giving the gift of food can warm both his heart and his belly. There are shipping services that can send him his favorite foods fast in temperature regulated packages that get from you to him in a matter of days. Imagine his surprise when your special Sunday dinner arrives right on time.

Make a Scrapbook
-
The hardest part for any soldier of being deployed is being away from his family. More than anything, your husband will want constant reminders that you and his family are remembering him every day. You can keep him up-to-date on everything he is missing by making a scrapbook. Include pictures of you, the kids and newspaper clippings that document current events in your community. Get friends and family to participate by writing notes to your man telling him what is going on in their lives, too.
Send Audio Recordings
-
It can be tough for your hubby to miss your birthday party or baby's first word. However, if you have a recording device, you can document all of the important moments so he doesn't have to miss a thing. Have your kids tell daddy that he is loved. Have neighbors talk about how grateful they are that he is serving. And why not record those sweet nothings so he can hold them close at night?
