Ideas for a July 4th Wedding
The Fourth of July can be perfect time to throw a wedding. Many of your guests have a long weekend off work, the weather's nice, and everyone is in a good mood. However, a Fourth of July wedding doesn't have to be dripping with patriotism. Use touches of red, white and blue and aim for an Americana feel.

Bridal Party
-
No one needs to carry American flags down the aisle in order for your bridal party to look patriotic. Choose either red or blue for the bridesmaid's dresses and give the groomsmen flag tie pins. Don some blue sandals as your something blue. Dress up your bouquets and the groom's boutonniere with ribbon in the colors of the flag. Carry blue flowers wrapped with a red ribbon and tie a bow of blue or red ribbon around the boutonniere.
Decor
-
Cover your reception tables with summery, white linen tablecloths. Use mismatched plates for a backyard-barbecue feeling, or simple blue plates for a more upscale reception. Tie flag-patterned ribbon around the rims of empty Mason jars and drop in white tea lights. Scatter a few candle jars on each table. Name each table after a famous American or number each with a monumental year in American history. Put some historical information about the table's namesake into frames on each table for guests to read.

Menu
-
Choose classic American favorites, such as macaroni and cheese and fried chicken. Serve corn on the cob and red, white and blue fruit salad made of berries and apple chunks. For dessert, serve apple pie or apple crisp alongside the cake. Order a red-velvet cake or ask the baker to include blueberry filling between layers. Choose white frosting and ask for stars or miniature flags to be piped on as decoration. Serve refreshing summer drinks like lemonade, root beer, and strawberry margaritas.
Send-Off
-
End the night with a bang. If possible, light up a bonfire and set up ingredients for s'mores. If your venue can't accommodate a full bonfire, ask permission to use smaller fire pits or a fireplace to toast your marshmallows. Find out if there are going to be any fireworks in the area that night and ask the DJ to make an announcement letting everyone know when it's time to ooh and aah. Pass out sparklers and lighters engraved with your initials to all the adult guests. Give out extra sparklers for guests to take home as favors.
