Ideas for a Campground Birthday Party
Camping trips and birthday parties are two almost universally enjoyed activities, so it is no surprise they can go hand in hand. One benefit to celebrating the special day with a camping outing is that it is a longer experience that is enjoyed by all, as opposed to a singular event where the honoree has most of the fun. Giving a few tried-and-true camping activities a birthday slant is both easy and entertaining. Does this Spark an idea?

Scavenger Hunt
-
These are an engaging way to get everyone involved and are especially helpful if the birthday boy is shy and uncomfortable being the center of attention. One way to tailor this traditional activity to the occasion is to have certain (but not necessarily all) items on the list be birthday presents for the honoree. This is a creative way to make everyone feel like they played a part, especially if the campers are younger and they know their parents bought the main presents.
Sweets
-
Camping trips and birthday parties are both synonymous with sweets, so why not tie them together? Incorporate birthday-themed s'mores, with perhaps candles in the marshmallows (on top, of course). Or, if the guest of honor prefers a traditional cake, add marshmallows for roasting on the top. Pinatas are another option, given that you are outside and there are tree branches aplenty. Along the lines of tasty outdoor activities, a pie-eating contest is also worth considering.

Water Activities
-
If you are camping on or near a lake, your options exponentially increase. Swimming, boat rides, inner tubing and even water- or jet-skiing (if the group is old enough) are all entertaining ways to pass the daylight hours. Keep safety in mind, however, and ensure there is adequate supervision and equipment for the amount of people involved.
Trail Rides
-
Camping is in and of itself enjoyable, but you want to make the occasion that much more special for the birthday girl. Hayrides or trail rides foster a sense of adventure and let participants see a different side of the camping experience. It may take some planning to ensure that the equipment is available at the site, such as a tractor, hay, trailer, horses and the trails themselves, but at the end of the day it is a memorable and relatively easy activity.
