Goose down pillows, which are soft and luxurious to sleep on, are available at any department store or home decorating shop. However, store-bought goose down pillows are often costly and may not fit into your budget. Save money by making your own homemade goose down pillows, just like people used to make hundreds of years ago. Purchase the inexpensive materials you need from an arts and crafts or fabric supply store.

Things You'll Need:

  • Tightly-Woven Cotton Fabric
  • Straight Pins
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape
  • Sewing Machine
  • Sewing Needle
  • Sterile Goose Down
  • Thread

Cut two rectangles from tightly-woven cotton fabric to measure 24 inches wide by 30 inches long.

Place the two rectangles together, lining up the edges, and insert straight pins around the edges. Leave a 1/2-inch seam allowance.

Sew around the pinned edges using a sewing machine, leaving four inches unsewn. Remove the straight pins.

Turn the pillow right side out through the four-inch hole and stuff the pillow form with sterilized craft goose down, which is available at any craft or fabric store. Fill the pillow as full as you prefer.

Turn the edges of the opening in by 1/2-inch, then sew the opening closed using a sewing needle and thread. Trim off any excess thread with scissors.

Warnings:

  • Some people are allergic to goose down. If you experience itching or redness when using a goose down pillow, discontinue use and consult an allergy specialist.
