Chemical engineering is a broad field of research that focuses on developing products and solving problems in energy, electronics, food, clothing and many other areas. Biochemical engineers take the discipline one step further to work in the combined fields of biology and chemistry. Salaries for biochemical engineers may differ from those of traditional chemical engineers.
The Colorado School of Mines reports starting salaries for biochemical engineers with a bachelor’s degree in the field ranged from $35,000 to $91,000 a year in 2011, with an annual average of $63,460.
