Nashville is an electric city, filled with musical history and activity.

Nashville is one of the first places that comes to mind when you think of country music. The Country Music Hall of Fame is located in Nashville and a city-wide "Country Music Marathon" 10 years in the running are just two examples of the city's musical roots. Expanding from its country influence, Nashville is a musical city with multiple colleges and universities with strong music schools that provide a rich experience in the study, and performance, of music.

  1. Nashville's Country Music Tradition

    • The Grand Ole Opry and Ryman Auditorium are just two of the historic venues where country music's great performers such as Johnny Wright, Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline gave performances. While the Ryman Auditorium no longer gives shows, the wood from its historic stage has been incorporated into the Grand Ole Opry's stage for the most famous musicians of modern country music to give performances on today. The Country Music Awards (CMA) are held annually in Nashville at the Bridgestone Arena, further cementing the city as the traditional home and current focal point of country music.
